The Practice Assistant reports to the Practice Manager or Ambulatory Practice Coordinator, with input from assigned physicians, nurses, or other health care providers. This role is responsible for delivering the highest quality service to patients while contributing to the smooth functioning of practice operations. Key duties include greeting patients and visitors courteously, serving as a central communication source, diffusing challenging situations, and maintaining patient confidentiality. The assistant performs check-in, registration, scheduling, and demographic verification using computer systems, manages referrals and co-pays, and facilitates patient flow. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a clean and welcoming reception area, ensuring appropriate signage and audio/visual settings, coordinating repairs, and providing Spanish translation services when needed.
