About The Position

Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) is seeking a full-time, one-year fixed-term Practical Nursing Instructor for the 2026–2027 academic year. This role offers an opportunity to shape the next generation of nurses by sharing knowledge, mentoring students, and making a lasting impact, while enjoying a more balanced schedule than traditional clinical roles. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing or a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing if the graduate degree is not in Nursing.
  • Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
  • Experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.
  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field.
  • Current unencu mbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
  • Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Nursing Education.
  • A diverse clinical background.
  • Experience using contemporary teaching and learning techniques
  • Experience using a variety of delivery methods, including but not limited to simulation, laboratory and clinical instruction and evaluation.
  • Previous teaching experience in nursing education.

Responsibilities

  • Classroom teaching and other contacts with students form the core of the faculty work assignment.
  • Participate in department and college curriculum development.
  • Deliver classroom, lab, and clinical instruction.
  • Conduct classroom assessment and evaluation activities.
  • Participate in committee assignments and college-wide initiatives.
  • Participate in department accreditation and review.
  • Engage in professional development activities.
  • Advocate on behalf of students, program, and college.
  • Student advising, course evaluation, classroom preparation, the evaluation of student performance, committee assignments, classroom research and community service as part of the overall work assignment.
