Position Summary The PR & Communications Intern supports the Comms and PR team by pitching media, writing press releases, media alerts, and post releases, and actively calling and pitching to media. To support SEO strategy in a digital PR landscape interns will write 1000+ word blog posts and ghost write for key clinicians. In addition, patient success stories are a key function of this team where interns will be asked to interview patients and doctors, procure photos and send for review and approval to key stakeholders. A key role for our interns is to sit on site at the busiest hospital in the system and could be asked to take photos, interview families, and interview doctors at a moment’s notice. Some additional job duties include: staffing internal and external events, handling media inquiries/visits, in-house photography, calendar listings, media pitches, intranet announcement posting and maintenance, reviewing newspapers, and tracking media clips. The Marketing Intern Per Diem provides support as needed with copy editing, collaborating and brainstorming with the Marketing team on campaign ideas and strategy, creating power point presentations, managing public relations and advertising clippings, being involved with coordinating and implementing special events internally and externally, and clerical duties as needed. Some job duties include: writing collateral copy, staffing internal and external events, handling media inquiries/visits, social media postings/updates, E-newsletter story creation, in-house photography, calendar listings, media pitches, re-branding collateral, editing and reviewing parent education materials for LBM & MCWHLB, intranet announcement posting and maintenance, lobby slide development and maintenance, serving as “in-house reporters” when we get requests from departments on new programs/patient success stories.
