About The Position

The Master Technician is the highest technical level in the dealership. This role is responsible for complete disassembly, engine overhauls, frame corrections, and diagnostics across multiple vehicle systems. The technician sets the quality standard and provides leadership in training, safety, and customer service excellence.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of powersports technician experience.
  • Master-level OEM certifications or ASE L1 (Advanced Engine Performance Specialist).
  • Proficiency in engine blueprinting, compression testing, and vacuum synchronization.
  • Familiarity with digital service platforms and DMS software (e.g., Lightspeed).
  • Leadership in shop safety, compliance, and mentoring programs.
  • Must be able to pass and drug screen
  • Must have a clean driving record and an M class license.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routines reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract three-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and oral form.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all responsibilities of Technician I–III.
  • Perform all repair tasks, from basic maintenance to full engine and transmission teardowns, on any metric platform.
  • Overhaul cylinder heads, grind valves, replace piston rings, bearings, crankshafts, and complete long-blocks.
  • Diagnose abnormal engine behavior by sound, vibration, or data logs (using ECU readers or test panels).
  • Use vibration analyzers, leak-down testers, and advanced tools for high-level diagnostics.
  • Fully dismantle and reassemble metric engines and gearboxes.
  • Conduct test rides and performance evaluations post-repair.
  • Design and implement service process improvements—e.g., streamlining job workflow, parts staging, or diagnostics SOPs.
  • Use advanced diagnostic equipment to monitor ignition timing, generator output, and emissions.
  • Train new hires and lead team in service bulletins and emerging technology sessions.
  • Provide feedback to Service Manager on technician readiness for promotions or special projects.
  • Document repairs in compliance with OEM warranty and dealership procedures, complex procedures for internal knowledge base; build diagnostic trees or cheat sheets for shop use.
  • Support customer escalations with technical authority and professional communication when needed.
