About The Position

SAIC is hiring a PowerBI Database Engineer to support the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) program. The role provides effective, insightful reporting using Power BI, SharePoint, Excel, and other tools; combines data from disparate sources into customer-facing dashboards; and delivers real- and near-real-time information for decision-making. This position is onsite in Washington, D.C. The engineer designs and deploys reporting tools that fuse information from various systems using APIs or other authorized data-transfer methods. The position develops business intelligence solutions, data models, reports, and dashboards; translates customer and business requirements into technical specifications; and creates queries and models that make data useful to customers. The role requires experience with Power BI, SQL, APIs, data integration, and data presentation, as well as the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, distributed team environment.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of experience; an additional six years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Must possess an active Secret security clearance; U.S. citizenship is required.
Experience scripting web applications in JavaScript or C++.
Experience developing application programming interfaces (APIs).
Experience with Power BI tools, development, and administration.
Experience developing data presentations.
Experience with SQL, including complex joins, mathematics, and aggregations.
Experience building Analysis Services reporting models.
Experience developing visual reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards using Power BI Desktop.
Experience connecting to data sources, importing data, and transforming data for business intelligence.
Strong understanding of transforming and integrating new and existing data sets.
Demonstrated knowledge of statistical applications.
Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment with competing priorities.
Ability to solve complex problems without technical guidelines and apply creative thinking.
Good understanding of REST and Web APIs.
Must hold at least one of the following certifications: Network+ CE, Security+ CE, CySA+, or CASP+ CE.

Nice To Haves

At least three years of experience in an Agile organization using a formal Agile methodology.
Certified Power BI or Power Platform certifications.
Experience working with virtual or physically dispersed teams.
Experience with Power Platform applications such as Apps, Automate, BI, and Pages.

Responsibilities

Design and deploy reporting tools that fuse and present information from various systems through API calls or other authorized data-transfer methods.
Develop and deploy business intelligence solutions using Power BI, SQL, SharePoint, and other tools.
Determine business requirements in a BI context and design data models that transform raw data into meaningful insights.
Convert business requirements into technical specifications and implement reports that support decision-making.
Craft and execute data queries based on requests.
Establish relationships between data sources and develop tabular and multidimensional data models for customer-consumable information.
Develop visual reports, dashboards, KPI scorecards, and Analysis Services reporting models.
Connect to data sources, import and transform data for business intelligence.
Translate functional requirements into technical work packages and data models.
Construct custom calculations using Power BI DAX.
