About The Position

SAIC is seeking a PowerBI Database Engineer to support the Defense Research and Engineering Network (DREN) program. The role develops effective, insightful reporting by combining data from disparate sources into customer-consumable dashboards and delivering real-time and near-real-time information for decision-making. The position is onsite in Washington, D.C. The engineer designs, develops, and deploys business intelligence and reporting solutions using Power BI, SQL, SharePoint, Excel, and other tools. The work includes determining business requirements, designing data models, integrating data from multiple sources through APIs or other authorized transfer methods, and translating requirements into technical specifications, reports, and dashboards. A bachelor's degree and five or more years of experience are required, with an additional six years of experience accepted in lieu of a degree. The role requires U.S. citizenship, an active Secret security clearance, and one of the specified technical certifications.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree and at least five years of experience; an additional six years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
U.S. citizenship required.
Experience scripting web applications in JavaScript or C++.
Experience developing application programming interfaces (APIs).
Experience with Power BI tools, development, and administration.
Experience developing data presentations.
Experience with SQL, including complex joins, mathematical operations, and aggregations.
Experience building Analysis Services reporting models.
Demonstrated ability to create custom calculations using Power BI DAX.
Strong understanding of transforming and integrating new and existing datasets.
Demonstrated knowledge of statistical applications.
Ability to solve complex problems without technical guidelines and use creative thinking.
Ability to lead and collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with competing priorities.
Good understanding of REST and Web APIs.
Must hold at least one of the following certifications: Network+ CE, Security+ CE, CySA+, or CASP+ CE.

Nice To Haves

At least three years of experience in an Agile organization using a formal Agile methodology is strongly preferred.
Certified Power BI or Power Platform certifications are strongly preferred.
Experience working with or within virtual or physically dispersed teams is preferred.
Experience working with Power Platform applications, such as Apps, Automate, BI, and Pages, is preferred.
Experience with integration tools and data modeling technology.

Responsibilities

Design and deploy reporting tools that combine and present information from multiple systems using APIs or other authorized data-transfer methods.
Develop and deploy business intelligence solutions using Power BI, SQL, SharePoint, and other tools.
Determine business requirements and design data models that transform raw data into meaningful insights.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and implement reports to support decision-making.
Create and execute queries in response to data requests.
Establish relationships between data sources and develop tabular and multidimensional data models.
Build visual reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards using Power BI Desktop.
Connect to data sources, import and transform data, and integrate new and existing datasets.
Translate functional requirements into technical work packages and data models.
Collaborate with team members in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
