Assist in performing all types of work involved in the construction, maintenance, rebuild, removal, operation, testing and inspection of energized or de-energized generation, transmission and distribution facilities. This role involves working on and around energized equipment (up to 260 volts), disassembling and reassembling, inspecting, maintaining, and repairing station transformers, circuit breakers, portable substations, rotating machinery, regulators and capacitors, and installing and maintaining station batteries. The intern will also assist with station work such as installing conduit, pipe, cable and wire, using hand lines to pass tools and materials, digging and backfilling trenches, removing and spreading stone, uncrating equipment and material, installing and removing portable substation fences, barriers and safety signs, and painting structures and equipment. Additionally, the role requires using various tapes, insulating materials, protective and insulating paints and varnishes, selecting proper prints and/or drawings, using test equipment like voltmeters, ohmmeters, ammeters, and insulation meggers, assisting in station switching, checking equipment clearances, making de-energized tests, and placing grounds. The intern will also assist in making visual inspections, reading gauges, applying start-run-stop tests on emergency generators and pumps, reporting abnormal conditions, and assisting in various electrical and oil sample tests. Attendance and participation in training are required, along with performing duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules and operating regulations and practices.
