About The Position

Arcadis is seeking a highly motivated Power System Planning & Study Engineer to join their Power Delivery team. This role involves coordinating and developing the Power System Planning & Study team, and/or performing HVAC and/or HVDC planning/feasibility studies, interconnection studies, transient studies, and systems analysis investigations for clients primarily in North America, but also globally. The incumbent will collaborate with other Power Delivery departments (Substation Engineering, Transmission Engineering, Protection & Control Engineering, Renewables teams) and other Arcadis divisions on related system studies and power sector master plans. This position contributes to improving quality of life through client projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 5 years of direct experience within power system study analysis and planning
  • Must be proficient with the PSS®E software package, including load-flow, short-circuit and transient stability analysis.
  • Must be familiar and experienced with key North American Market Operators (i.e. MISO, PJM, NE-ISO, NY-ISO, CAISO, ERCOT, SSP, AESO, IESO) policies, guidelines, regulations, rules, requirements and criteria as applicable to grid interconnection, performance and planning, especially related to bulk power systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with alternative planning software applications, including TARA, PSLF, DigSILENT, or DSA Tools, is highly desirable
  • PE license

Responsibilities

  • Support, develop, and deliver various complex power system study & planning projects within regulated, non-regulated, developer, or other industrial clients.
  • Perform and review power systems analysis activities including load-flow, short-circuit, transient stability, electromagnetic transient, small-signal stability analysis, system impact study, reliability analysis etc.
  • Perform planning/system performance studies and transient studies for compliance with prevailing standards and criteria and good engineering practice.
  • Delivery of accurate and thorough planning, studies, system design, report summary and other client system study deliverables that will meet industry standards and specifications and meet good engineering practice with excellent constructability.
  • Responsible for QA on client reports and deliverables.
  • Maintaining close coordination and help other relevant Arcadis Business Units and Practices for cross selling and cross staffing opportunities.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and proposals.
