About The Position

At Cooperative Energy, we're more than Mississippi's only not-for-profit wholesale electric power provider - we're a team committed to lighting the way for 456,000 homes and businesses across our state. Together with our 11 local Member cooperatives, we generate and transmit reliable, affordable electricity to the communities we proudly call home. The primary responsibility of the Power Marketing Coordinator II is the implementation of our Day-Ahead Strategy for both the MISO market and the bilateral markets (SOCO & TVA). This includes coordinating with the Cooperative Energy's Fuel team to provide forecasted Next Day natural gas burns, with the Cooperative Energy's Real Time team to provide Day-Ahead positions and expected interchange, and with the Cooperative Energy's Settlements team to keep track of transactions and associated P&L. This position will be responsible for learning and staying abreast of best industry practices for energy risk management, energy reporting, and interchange accounting activities. Contributes to reports for internal use and reporting to outside entities (NERC, SERC, Department of Energy, etc.) as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Computer Science Or Bachelor's Degree Engineering General (ABET Accredited Institution) Or Bachelor's Degree Finance Or Bachelor's Degree Mathematics
  • 8 years of control center operations or commercial energy transaction experience may be substituted in lieu of education requirements.

Responsibilities
