Power Manufacturing Test Development Engineer

Cerebras Systems•Sunnyvale, CA

About The Position

Cerebras Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Test Development Engineer to develop, implement, and optimize automated manufacturing test solutions for advanced AI computing hardware. The role focuses on designing and deploying robust test fixtures and hardware interfaces, qualifying manufacturing test processes, and improving production test coverage, yield, throughput, and reliability. The ideal candidate combines hardware troubleshooting skills with software development and manufacturing engineering experience. The engineer will work with hardware design, systems engineering, firmware, software, quality, supply chain, and contract manufacturing teams to ensure complex computing systems are tested consistently and efficiently throughout the manufacturing lifecycle. The work spans new product introduction (NPI), pilot production, manufacturing qualification, and high-volume production ramp.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing test development, hardware validation, test automation, or production engineering; 10 years is ideal.
  • Proficiency in Python for test automation, hardware control, data processing, and diagnostic development.
  • Hands-on experience testing electronic assemblies, computer systems, embedded hardware, or complex electromechanical products.
  • Experience integrating automated test software with laboratory or manufacturing test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of digital electronics, power electronics fundamentals, communication interfaces, and hardware bring-up.
  • Experience with contract manufacturers and outsourced manufacturing operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with automated manufacturing test frameworks, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and production test station development.
  • Familiarity with statistical process control (SPC), failure analysis, root-cause methodologies, and corrective action processes.
  • Experience with SQL, dashboards, data visualization, or other tools for manufacturing test data analysis.
  • Knowledge of design for testability, design for manufacturability, and manufacturing process qualification.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated test systems for advanced computing hardware, including system boards, high-speed interconnects, power delivery, cooling subsystems, and integrated computing platforms.
  • Design manufacturing test strategies for board-level functional testing, system integration, hardware diagnostics, and final system acceptance.
  • Develop test procedures, test specifications, test fixtures, and supporting documentation for NPI and production ramp.
  • Define test coverage requirements, acceptance criteria, and pass/fail limits with design, quality, and test teams.
  • Evaluate and implement test methodologies, instrumentation, and automation frameworks to improve manufacturing test effectiveness.
  • Integrate test equipment, programmable power supplies, electronic loads, oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, communication interfaces, and hardware management controllers.
  • Support NPI builds, pilot production, manufacturing qualification, and high-volume production ramp.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing test failures and work with cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in test cycle time, station utilization, process repeatability, and manufacturing cost.
  • Verify that manufacturing test solutions are repeatable, maintainable, and suitable for deployment across production sites.
  • Partner with design engineering, systems engineering, firmware, software, quality, supply chain, and contract manufacturing teams.
  • Support manufacturing test station deployment, equipment qualification, operator training, and process documentation.
  • Communicate test results, production risks, and improvement opportunities to engineering and operations stakeholders.
