About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and the associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The team tackles complex challenges within the supply chain and seeks talented individuals to contribute. You will join a diverse team of engineers, specialists, and managers, collaborating across AWS to uphold high standards of safety and security while delivering immense capacity at minimal cost. Their designs are transforming data centers, yielding significant operational and financial advantages crucial for the success of AWS and its vast customer base. The team designs and constructs power equipment utilized by Amazon.com and various AWS services, including EC2, EBS, S3, Glacier, and Outpost. Engineers on this team address complex technological problems and make significant investments in new concepts to enable AWS services to continue revolutionizing the industry.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, or experience in low power design techniques
  • Experience with lab-based user testing, remote testing, iterative prototype testing, survey design, and usage of multiple methods within a study
  • Experience with large-scale power systems

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of electrical engineering principles including switchgear, UPS, transformers, and circuit breakers
  • Experience in developing functional specifications, design verification plans, and functional test procedures

Responsibilities

  • Design, debug, and validation of power systems including battery management systems, Power supplies (AC/DC, DC/AC converters), Automatic transfer switches, and BMC controllers.
  • Own the end-to-end development cycle of the product.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software development teams to troubleshoot challenging technical issues.
  • Design automation using test scripts and applications.
  • Write test reports.
  • Perform board-level testing and functional verification of power sub-systems.
  • Support hardware/software integration testing and firmware regression.
  • Propose design improvements to products based on test result findings in a continuous improvement and technically challenging environment.
  • Act as a hardware design subject matter expert on new product development efforts.
  • Help define the architecture of future AWS technologies to deliver a world-class customer experience.
