The Power Electronics Lead for the NA Region will be responsible for building and cultivating the Power Electronics team in the US, working globally with existing teams in the UK and Prague. This role involves supporting the road mapping of future power electronics technologies for automotive and wider applications, including higher voltage systems, cost-effective solutions, and novel topologies. The lead will provide technical leadership in identifying and devising innovative engineering solutions, stay updated on the latest power electronics technologies, and define new opportunities. Key aspects include supporting customer-facing technical meetings, generating proposals, and leading customer power electronics projects delivered across the US, UK, and Prague. The position also entails supporting the growth of facilities and the team through recruitment to meet increasing customer demands, with an opportunity to manage appropriate parts of the team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering / Software Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Computer Science or equivalent
  • Over 10 years of hands on experience required in the design, development and delivery of automotive power electronics covering inverters, DC/DC, power supplies etc.
  • Application experience with power switches including IGBT, MOSFET, SiC, GaN etc.
  • EMI and EMC experience.
  • Embedded control hardware application (uP, DSP, FPGA) – coding not expected – including power supply, interfacing and protection circuits.
  • Demonstrable experience with typical power electronics simulation and analysis approaches and software packages.
  • Experience of electronics manufacturing processes and new product introduction.
  • Must have successfully delivered, from a lead position, at least two significant vehicle programs (commercially, technically and on-time)
  • Strong product development work content, timing and deliverables knowledge.
  • Understands customer needs, wants and ensure on-going positive relationships.
  • Experience in project leadership and managing programs involving multiple disciplines and departments, without direct reports.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical and listening skills.
  • Self-motivated with excellent time management skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work well with people, in a team environment, and to communicate effectively both written & oral.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, matrix organisation.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of power conversion electronics.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years professional systems engineering experience.
  • Automotive component development experience.
  • Able to dissect a system into logical components by function and or feature.
  • Able to identify critical interdependencies between systems and or components.
  • Experience with safety and/or ASPICE standards.
  • Experience with Agile Development Processes.

Responsibilities

  • Architect Power electronics projects from a Budget, resource, technical and stakeholder perspective.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership team to identify and create new service offerings in vehicle systems in the technology space of fuel cell, hybrid vehicle and autonomous vehicle.
  • Lead interfaces with multiple clients to identify potential needs.
  • Develop workable client solutions and integrates solutions into proposals.
  • Provide technical leadership in identifying and devising innovative solutions in engineering services.
  • Identifies, integrates and standardizes best practices with respect to key technical deliverables such as modeling and other technical analyses.
  • Develop the system requirements based upon and traced to the customer requirements for mechanical, electrical and software disciplines.
  • Utilize the system architecture provided by the core team to verify that the system requirements are satisfied by the system architecture.
  • Updates system architecture as necessary.
  • Understand and document customer requirements using ALM tools.
  • Manager and negotiate customer requirements, change requests, and unwritten expectations.
  • Documents system architecture in an unambiguous, clear, and understandable way that electrical, mechanical and software engineers know exactly what they must do in order to meet customer expectations.
  • Concept system and topology development for power conversion circuits.
  • Support local engineers in a line management role.
