How Will You Make An Impact? The Lead Power Electronics Engineer will lead design teams focused on unique design projects and challenges in the power electronics domain. Typical projects will include power converters, energy storage systems, battery management systems, etc. The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of developing such systems and launching them into production. Location: This role will be based on-site at the St. Petersburg, FL – Gandy location.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field is required. A Master's degree or PhD is preferred.
• At least 8+ years of relative experience in electrical hardware design is required.
• Experience leading entire design cycles from concept to production.
• Or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training.
• High power (>1kW) power electronics design, such as DC/DC, AC/DC, DC/AC inverters, battery management systems, etc.
• Hazardous voltage design and testing (>120VAC)
• Led successful transfer to manufacturing and commercial product launches.
• Circuit analysis of power converter topologies.
• Debug and testing using standard lab equipment.
• Testing to regulatory compliance standards such as IEC61000-4-x.
• Schematic capture process using at least one ECAD tool, such as Altium, Cadence Allegro, or Mentor Xpedition.

Nice To Haves

• ESS-related standards: UL1741, UL9540, UL1973, UL2202, or similar.
• Safety critical systems: UL60730-1, UL991, or similar.
• SPICE, Matlab/Octave, Simulink, MathCAD, PSIM, or similar Simulation tools such as the Ansys suite.
• High volume manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Lead designs of power electronics products from requirements development to manufacturing transfer.
• Assist system architect in developing product requirements from customer input.
• Apply applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Select key components with an emphasis on cost reduction.
• Capture schematics and supervise layout engineers.
• Perform design analysis, including DFMEA, worst case circuit analysis, and simulations.
• Develop test plans against customer requirements.
• Debug prototype units using standard lab equipment.
• Execute verification test plan using standard lab equipment.
• Write manufacturing test specifications.
• Represent Jabil Design Engineering in technical customer discussions.
• Perform design reviews.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers.
