About The Position

The Power Electronics Application Engineer will provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for power supply and power conversion products. This role involves analyzing customer requirements, recommending appropriate power solutions, and assisting customers with product selection, system integration, and design optimization. The engineer will also develop reference designs, evaluation platforms, and application notes, create and validate customer-specific solutions, and perform circuit simulations and performance verification. Additionally, the role includes conducting various product validation tests, debugging hardware and system-level issues, and supporting root-cause analysis of failures. The position also requires supporting technical sales efforts through presentations, demonstrations, and training, as well as collaborating with cross-functional teams like design, quality, manufacturing, and product management to provide feedback for future product development and support new product introductions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in power electronics, power supply design, applications engineering, or related field.
  • Experience supporting customers in a technical role preferred.
  • Strong understanding of AC-DC power supplies
  • Strong understanding of DC-DC converters
  • Strong understanding of Flyback, Forward, LLC, Half-Bridge, Full-Bridge topologies
  • Strong understanding of Power Factor Correction (PFC)
  • Strong understanding of PoE (IEEE 802.3af/at/bt)
  • Strong understanding of Battery charging systems
  • Strong understanding of Si, SiC, and GaN power devices
  • Strong understanding of Thermal design and management
  • Strong understanding of EMC/EMI compliance
  • Proficiency with Oscilloscopes
  • Proficiency with Power analyzers
  • Proficiency with Electronic loads
  • Proficiency with Network analyzers
  • Proficiency with Spectrum analyzers
  • Proficiency with Thermal test equipment
  • Experience using LTspice
  • Experience using PSpice
  • Experience using MATLAB/Simulink

Responsibilities

  • Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for power supply and power conversion products.
  • Analyze customer requirements and recommend appropriate power solutions.
  • Assist customers with product selection, system integration, and design optimization.
  • Support customer qualification testing and resolve field application issues.
  • Develop reference designs, evaluation platforms, and application notes.
  • Create and validate customer-specific solutions using AC-DC, DC-DC, PoE, battery charging, and power management technologies.
  • Perform circuit simulation, characterization, and performance verification.
  • Generate test reports and technical documentation.
  • Conduct electrical, thermal, EMC/EMI, reliability, and performance testing.
  • Debug hardware and system-level issues.
  • Support root-cause analysis of customer returns and field failures.
  • Work closely with design engineering teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver customer presentations, product demonstrations, and technical training.
  • Participate in customer design reviews and engineering discussions.
  • Support RFI, RFQ, and technical compliance activities.
  • Assist in developing competitive product comparisons and positioning.
  • Work with design, quality, manufacturing, and product management teams.
  • Provide feedback on customer requirements for future product development.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI) activities.
  • Help define specifications for next-generation power products.
