About The Position

TTM is seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer responsible for leading and performing design activities for high-reliability power electronics, power conversion systems, and motor drivers. You will mentor less experienced engineering staff, work closely with customers to fulfill program requirements, and perform complex power design activities under minimal supervision. This role includes supporting design verification efforts, thermal and power dissipation analysis, and performing detailed compliance analysis for aerospace and defense applications.

Requirements

  • Lead the design of new power electronics products or improvements upon existing products (e.g., Buck, Boost, Flyback, and resonant topologies) and provide guidance to others on specific design functions.
  • Strong working knowledge of circuit simulation tools (e.g., LTSpice, PSpice, or similar) specifically for power electronics and control loop stability analysis.
  • Solid understanding of analog circuit design, power electronics design, motor driver applications, and thermal management.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques and designing power systems to meet strict military or aerospace standards.
  • Ability to design experiments, analyze the data, and conduct structured problem solving.
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills to document technical specifications and furnish design review presentations.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Work with other engineering disciplines, including a high level of customer interface.
  • Strong time management skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Ability to act as a technical lead and mentor on military and space projects.
  • Ability to write specifications and proposals, and present technical material.
  • Actively pursues opportunities to expand job-related knowledge.
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented.
  • Minimum 6 Years Relevant Experience in power electronics or analog hardware design.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s degree with a focus on Power Electronics is a plus).
  • Must have a background that would permit the U.S. Department of Defense to issue a Secret clearance when necessary for work on a project that requires such a clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree with a focus on Power Electronics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer specifications and drawings to assist in proposal and development efforts for power electronics and analog systems.
  • Estimate timeframe of design efforts and establish power architecture concepts.
  • Work independently or within a team environment. Ensure that project schedules are met.
  • Provide guidance to other members. Lead interns, test engineering, and engineering technicians on specific program tasks including power supply test procedure development, test station development, and characterization.
  • Responsible for product development from design through production release, with a focus on power converters, motor controllers, and analog circuitry.
  • Follow established standard design processes for high-reliability electronics.
  • Understand manufacturing approaches and limitations, particularly regarding power layout, thermal management, and magnetics. Perform review before design release. Assess new processes and technologies.
  • Prepare presentations for gated internal and customer design reviews. Provide nominal simulation results (SPICE, PSIM, etc.) along with worst-case tolerance and thermal analysis.
  • Design and evaluate test circuits. Correlate expected performance with test results, ensuring stable control loops and EMI/EMC compliance. Present results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Provide training and guidance to engineers, interns, co-ops, and technicians. Develop training material.
  • Help in understanding customer requirements and take appropriate action to meet expectations.
  • Assess design trade-offs, cost, efficiency, and performance implications, and make appropriate recommendations.
