About The Position

The Power Electronics Application Engineer will provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support for power supply and power conversion products. This role involves analyzing customer requirements, recommending appropriate power solutions, and assisting customers with product selection, system integration, and design optimization. The engineer will also support customer qualification testing and resolve field application issues. Additionally, the role includes developing reference designs, evaluation platforms, and application notes, creating and validating customer-specific solutions using various power technologies, and performing circuit simulation and performance verification. The engineer will also be responsible for product validation, troubleshooting, conducting various tests (electrical, thermal, EMC/EMI, reliability, performance), debugging hardware and system-level issues, and supporting root-cause analysis of customer returns and field failures. Collaboration with design engineering teams to implement corrective actions is also a key part of the role. Furthermore, the engineer will support technical sales by delivering presentations, product demonstrations, and training, participating in design reviews, and assisting with RFI/RFQ activities. Cross-functional collaboration with design, quality, manufacturing, and product management teams is essential, including providing feedback for future product development and supporting new product introduction.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in power electronics, power supply design, applications engineering, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of: AC-DC power supplies, DC-DC converters, Flyback, Forward, LLC, Half-Bridge, Full-Bridge topologies, Power Factor Correction (PFC), PoE (IEEE 802.3af/at/bt), Battery charging systems, Si, SiC, and GaN power devices, Thermal design and management, EMC/EMI compliance.
  • Proficiency with: Oscilloscopes, Power analyzers, Electronic loads, Network analyzers, Spectrum analyzers, Thermal test equipment.
  • Experience using: LTspice, PSpice, MATLAB/Simulink, Power electronics simulation tools.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent customer communication skills.
  • Technical presentation capability.
  • Project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Team-oriented and collaborative mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Power Electronics preferred.
  • Experience supporting customers in a technical role preferred.
  • Experience with PoE systems and Ethernet power delivery.
  • Familiarity with UL, IEC, FCC, CE, and Energy Efficiency standards.
  • Knowledge of digital power control techniques.
  • Experience supporting global customers and manufacturing teams.
  • Understanding of reliability analysis, MTBF calculations, and design verification methods.
