About The Position

TransitAmerica Services, Inc., is currently seeking Power Control Supervisors in Menlo Park, CA to join our team. The pay rate for this position is $101,764.00 annually. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Duties include complying with all State and Federal regulations, ensuring employee and public safety, operating and monitoring the SCADA system, remotely controlling high-voltage electrical equipment, reporting status changes and alarms, supporting emergency responses, ensuring timely train operations, coordinating with field personnel and other departments, creating reports and maintaining logs, and promoting a team environment. Flexible schedule to work nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and emergency callouts is required to support 24/7 system operations. Regular and consistent engagement, participation, and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are required. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are required. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Must become qualified in General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR) and Electrical Operating Instructions (EOI) and always maintain these qualifications.
  • Experience with SCADA interface systems used to monitor and control traction power distribution across an electrified rail system.
  • Understanding of regulatory and governmental requirements (FRA, GCOR, OSHA, CPUC General Orders).
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience listening and communicating effectively within large groups while prioritizing safety, passenger rail service, on-time performance, and owner requirements.
  • Ability to remain calm, focused, and alert in fast-paced, high-pressure environments while exercising sound judgment, managing multiple time-sensitive tasks, and making accurate decisions under distracting or monotonous conditions.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Subject to pre-employment background check.
  • Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position.
  • Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all State and Federal regulations, including FRA, GCOR, OSHA, and CPUC General Orders, as well as all safety and railroad policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Ensure employee and public safety when on or about the electrical system.
  • Operate and monitor the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to manage, control, and ensure safe and reliable distribution of traction power across the rail system.
  • Continually monitor SCADA for power status, alarms, and indications.
  • Remotely control high-voltage electrical equipment from the PCS office.
  • Report status changes and alarms to the Power Director.
  • Support emergency responses, routine events, and enforce safety rules and work practices.
  • Ensure timely train operations to achieve service goals and maintain high-quality customer service.
  • Coordinate and communicate effectively with the Power Director regarding conditions affecting train movements, applying corrective actions and deploying appropriate measures to sustain alternate service during disruptions.
  • Coordinate with field personnel in the execution of power isolation and restoration.
  • Support interdepartmental coordination to restore scheduled service during disruptions while modeling professional standards in all communications.
  • Create reports and maintain detailed logs of system events, incidents, alarms, and indications, providing documentation to the TES Superintendent at the end of each shift.
  • Promote a team environment among CCF personnel, other departments, and contractors.
