About The Position

This is a short-term engagement (3 months ONLY) for a Power BI Data Analyst to transform a large Excel extract of potential duplicate patient encounters into a structured, interactive Power BI dashboard. The goal is to support data-quality improvement and operational cleanup. The consultant will collaborate with HIM, data governance, and clinical operations teams to define criteria and visualizations for identifying duplicate patterns, encounter clusters, and high-risk records. The dashboard will aid teams in quickly identifying duplicates, understanding root causes, and prioritizing remediation efforts. The role may also involve other Power BI-related tasks for DBHDS if time permits. The role can be full-time or part-time (20 hrs/week), with the potential to end sooner if work is completed faster than the slated end date of 6/30/26.

Responsibilities

Conduct requirements sessions with HIM, data governance, and operations.
Analyze the structure and quality of the duplicate-encounter extract.
Build a Power BI data model capable of handling large datasets.
Develop visualizations for duplicate patterns, encounter groupings, frequency, and severity indicators.
Create filters for facility, date ranges, encounter type, and risk level.
Implement automated refresh and validation logic.
Iterate with stakeholders to refine insights and usability.
Deliver a requirements document and dashboard wireframes.
Deliver a Power BI data model and transformation logic.
Deliver a Duplicate Encounter Identification dashboard.
Deliver a data dictionary and process documentation.
Conduct a knowledge-transfer session with internal staff.
