About The Position

This internship is for students currently enrolled at the Lakeland Electric Power Academy. Positions are allocated within the utility to prepare future workers where an identified need exists and the skills and student goals are a match. Work is evaluated for overall effectiveness and adherence to safe workplace practices, and is performed under direct supervision.

Currently enrolled as a senior in the Lakeland Electric Power Academy.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with the supervisor, co-workers, other City employees, and the general public.
Knowledge of computers.
Knowledge of MicroStation software (CADD) or equivalent drafting experience.
Familiarity with hand tools and electrical drawings.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, and to request clarification when needed.
Ability to distinguish white, green, yellow, orange, magenta, red, cyan, and blue colors; this will be confirmed by a standard medical test for color blindness.
Ability to perform manual labor involving walking or standing most of the time, exerting up to 100 pounds of force regularly, keyboard operations, and manipulating tools and wires.
Ability to work with exposure risks including heights, toxic or caustic chemicals, traffic, moving machinery, extreme temperatures, electrical shock, adverse weather, bright or dim light, fumes, noxious odors, dust, pollen, wet or humid conditions, and extreme noise.
