About The Position

APX is hiring a reliable, skilled Powder Coating Technician for its production team at the St Thomas facility. The role focuses on preparing and coating aluminum parts and assemblies using an electrostatic powder coating process. The technician may also work in other areas of the paint line to support proper production flow.

Reliable transportation.
Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs comfortably.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including occasional weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

Three or more years of powder-coating experience preferred.
Experience working with aluminum parts is a plus.
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate electrostatic powder spray guns and related equipment to apply coatings to aluminum parts and assemblies.
Ensure coatings have a uniform, consistent finish that meets product quality standards.
Visually inspect coated parts for complete coverage and finish quality.
Operate and maintain the wash bay system to prepare parts for coating.
Use curing and drying ovens as part of the finishing process.
Test finishes and work with the supervisor to address coating or quality concerns.
Identify defective products and determine corrective action or whether to reject a part.
Assist with cleaning and general maintenance of powder coating equipment and the surrounding work area.
Cross-train in other production departments and assist with forklift operations as needed.
Perform additional duties supporting the powder coating and finishing process.
