About The Position

APX is seeking a reliable and skilled Powder Coating Technician for its production team at the St Thomas facility. The role focuses on preparing and coating aluminum parts and assemblies using an electrostatic powder coating process, while also supporting other areas of the paint line to maintain proper workflow. The technician works in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment and helps ensure finished products meet quality standards.

Requirements

Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and commitment to quality.
Must have reliable transportation.
Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs comfortably.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including occasional weekends, as needed.

Nice To Haves

3+ years of experience in powder coating (preferred).
Experience working with aluminum parts.
High school diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate electrostatic powder spray guns and related equipment to coat aluminum parts and assemblies.
Ensure coatings have a uniform, consistent finish that meets product quality standards.
Visually inspect coated parts for coverage and finish quality.
Operate and maintain the wash bay system to prepare parts for coating.
Use cure and dry ovens during the finishing process.
Test finishes and work with the supervisor to address coating or quality concerns.
Identify defective products and determine corrective action or whether to reject a part.
Assist with cleaning and general maintenance of powder coating equipment and the surrounding work area.
Cross-train in other production departments and assist with forklift operations as needed.
Perform additional duties supporting powder coating and finishing.
