About The Position

The Powder Coat Painter operates an automated powder coat paint system, fills and cleans paint hoppers, adjusts paint nozzles, and uses manual paint guns for touch-ups as needed. The role maintains the paint system for optimum performance, operates automatic and manual paint guns, and performs testing to verify part quality while maintaining records. The painter also supports Dee Zee’s environmental policy through proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, waste reduction, and action based on environmental performance results and findings. The position requires understanding, maintaining, and operating the mechanical functions of equipment in the paint area, and adjusting paint guns and nozzles to achieve the required paint coverage. Requirements

• Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance with Dee Zee customer requirements.
• Knowledge of how to check mill thickness with a mill gauge meter.
• Proficiency in paint room programming and setting up new recipes.
• Quality-focused, with strong attention to cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, blueprints, and control plans.
• Ability to run all paint equipment necessary.
• Ability to set up paint guns and the system to obtain proper paint coverage on parts.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must be willing and able to work in an environment that may include coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.

Nice To Haves

• 1+ year of powder coat painting experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
