About The Position

The Powder Coat Painter operates the automated powder coat paint system, fills and cleans paint hoppers, adjusts paint nozzles, and operates manual paint guns for touch-up as needed. The role also involves maintaining paint equipment, checking product quality, keeping records, and supporting environmental performance and waste-reduction efforts.

The position requires working in an environment that may include coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

• Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance to Dee Zee customers.
• Knowledge of how to check mill thickness using a mill gauge meter.
• Proficiency in paint room programming and setting up new recipes.
• Quality-focused, with strong attention to cleanliness and organization.
• Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, blueprints, and control plans.
• Ability to operate all necessary paint equipment.
• Ability to set up paint guns and the system to obtain proper paint coverage on parts.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

• At least 1 year of powder coat painting experience.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the paint system to achieve optimum performance.
• Operate automatic paint guns.
• Operate manual paint guns for touch-up as needed.
• Perform testing to assure part quality in an environmentally safe state and maintain records.
• Support the environmental policy through proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, waste reduction, and action on environmental performance results and findings.
• Understand, maintain, and operate the mechanical functions of equipment in the paint area.
• Adjust paint guns and nozzles according to paint coverage.
• Clean and fill paint hoppers.
