About The Position

We are seeking a skilled Postgres DBA with a strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internal components. The role involves day-to-day database operations, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting. You will be responsible for managing large-scale, high-performance production databases, including backups, upgrades, replication, and high-availability solutions. Experience with cloud-based deployments and containerization technologies is essential.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of PostgreSQL architecture and internal components.
• Hands-on experience with logical and physical backup and restore strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
• Proven experience in performing minor and major PostgreSQL version upgrades.
• Extensive experience with database replication and high-availability solutions.
• Deep knowledge of PostgreSQL configuration parameters, system catalogs, and performance views.
• Experience with routine database maintenance activities (vacuum, analyze, reindex, patching).
• Hands-on exposure to cloud-based PostgreSQL deployments on AWS (RDS/EC2) and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Strong experience with HADR tools such as Repmgr, Pgpool, and pgBackRest.
• Solid hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes.
• Strong scripting skills in Shell and/or Python for automation and monitoring.
• Proven experience administering multi-terabyte, high-performance production databases.
• Ability to independently learn, adapt, and implement new technologies.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical teams.
• Experience in designing and supporting large-scale, mission-critical database infrastructure with high transaction volumes.

Nice To Haves

• Exposure to Kubernetes platforms such as GKE or EKS.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day database operations, monitoring, and performance troubleshooting (CPU load, locks, blocking, long-running queries, etc.).
• Implement and manage logical and physical backup and restore strategies, including Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR).
• Execute minor and major PostgreSQL version upgrades.
• Manage database replication and high-availability solutions.
• Conduct routine database maintenance activities (vacuum, analyze, reindex, patching).
• Administer multi-terabyte, high-performance production databases.
• Design and support large-scale, mission-critical database infrastructure with high transaction volumes.
• Automate and monitor tasks using Shell and/or Python scripting.
• Independently learn, adapt, and implement new technologies.
