Postdoctoral Scientist -Surgery Chair, Jevtic Lab

Cedars-SinaiBeverly Hills, CA
$62,400 - $93,600Onsite

About The Position

The Jevtic laboratory aims to understand how the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) regulates gene expression and cell fate, and how disruptions in these pathways contribute to human diseases. A key focus is the E3 ubiquitin ligase SCF-FBXL14 and its interaction with Groucho/TLE transcriptional co-repressors. TLEs are crucial for development and are often altered in cancer. SCF-FBXL14, through its association with TLEs, regulates numerous transcription factors that govern tissue development. The lab investigates how the UPS manages repressive protein complexes on chromatin to allow for dynamic gene expression changes and proper cellular identity. They utilize human stem cell and cancer models combined with genomic, proteomic, biochemical, and structural approaches. By integrating this research with the clinical expertise and resources at Cedars-Sinai, the goal is to discover how defects in ubiquitin-dependent gene expression control cause disease and to develop new therapeutic strategies.
