The Newman Lab at the Buck Institute seeks a clinical/translational research-focused postdoctoral researcher to participate in the TAKEOFF multicenter randomized controlled trial (NCT06645847). TAKEOFF (Targeting Aging with a Ketone Ester for Function in Frailty) tests whether molecular mechanisms by which ketone bodies modulate aging pathways translate to older adults. The lab studies how signaling metabolites regulate aging mechanisms and applies those findings to clinical problems. The researcher will contribute to day-to-day trial activities, from participant consent through biospecimen processing; help launch a cognition-focused ancillary study; and lead creative efforts to analyze multiomic data and biospecimens. They will collaborate with the TAKEOFF team, including clinical research associates, research nurses, Clinical Research Core staff, other Buck labs and core facilities, the Newman Lab bench science team, and external clinical research collaborators. The role is fully on-site and offers the opportunity for mentored participation in the Gerontological Society of America’s Geroscience Education and Training curriculum. The position may also provide clinical research training for motivated applicants. The Buck Institute is an independent, nonprofit institution in Marin County, California, focused on increasing human healthspan and addressing age-related diseases. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not offered. Candidates must live within reasonable commuting distance on their first workday.
