The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kansas seeks a postdoctoral researcher or research associate in experimental neutrino physics. The successful candidate will contribute to the Experimental Neutrino Physics group's research program through software development, physics data analysis, and publication of research results, working with University of Kansas group members, Fermilab scientists, and collaborators worldwide. The research includes developing techniques to reconstruct event topologies in LArTPC experiments, including neutrino interactions and BSM signatures, and developing techniques for analyzing LArTPC data to study neutrino oscillations from accelerator, atmospheric, and astrophysical sources and search for BSM processes. Work may span the life cycle of neutrino experiments, from experimental design, feasibility studies, detector prototyping and R&D through construction, operation, data-taking support, calibration, modeling, simulation, reconstruction, analysis, software development, publication and proposal preparation, editorial work, presentations, outreach, and career development. The researcher will also document, present, and publish research results and assist faculty in guiding graduate and undergraduate students. The appointment is initially for one year and is expected to last up to four years, with annual renewal. A further extension may be possible depending on funding. The anticipated start date is January 15, 2027, or as soon thereafter as the position can be filled; the date is negotiable. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
