Mass General Brigham’s Mapping & Engineering Neural Dynamics (MEND) Lab is seeking a postdoctoral research fellow for an NIH-funded project investigating why responsive neurostimulation (RNS) benefits some people with epilepsy more than others. The project uses a dataset of more than 260 patients at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital, including approximately 240,000 chronic ECoG recordings, stimulation histories, brain imaging, and clinical outcomes. The R01 project is the priority, with opportunities to explore other neurological and psychiatric disorders. The MEND Lab, led by neurosurgeon and neuroscientist Dr. John Rolston, combines electrophysiology, advanced imaging, and electrical stimulation to study and treat disorders involving altered brain activity. The fellow will receive mentorship from Dr. Rolston and day-to-day guidance from Senior Postdoctoral Research Fellow Dr. Jeremi Chabros. The role involves close collaboration with surgeons and neurologists, access to hospital CPU and GPU clusters, and support for fellowship funding applications. The position is based in Boston’s Longwood area and is described as hybrid in the role details, although the listing’s Remote Type is Onsite. Start timing is flexible, with early 2027 preferred. J-1 visa sponsorship is available to qualified candidates.
