About The Position

The Department of Anesthesiology, Dr. Eltzschig's lab, is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The research laboratory is interested in studying endogenous adaptive pathways that are under the control of hypoxia-inducible factors. These molecular concepts have been applied to a wide range of disease models important for anesthesiology, critical care, and perioperative medicine, including acute lung injury, myocardial or hepatic ischemia, acute kidney injury, and intestinal inflammation. The goal of these studies is to contribute to novel pharmacologic approaches to prevent or treat acute organ injury in surgical patients. Requirements

Doctoral/Terminal Degree
Possess interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels.
Have strong written and oral communication skills.
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.

Responsibilities

Plans and conducts experiments, analyzes data, and prepares publications describing results.
Assists in training and mentoring of lab personnel, including graduate students and other trainees.
Reads and evaluates literature.
Performs other duties as assigned.
