About The Position

The Department of Electrical Engineering in the College of Engineering, at the University of Texas at Arlington, invites applications for a rank of Postdoctoral Research Associate. A self-motivated postdoctoral research associate is required to conduct independent research on semiconductor lasers, amplifiers, and integrated photonics, including device design, fabrication in cleanroom, and test and validation. In addition, it is required that a postdoctoral research associate should contribute to the development of research proposals and grant applications, manage research projects, mentor graduate and undergraduate students, and collaborate with other researchers. The postdoctoral research associate is expected to publish research findings in peer-reviewed high-impact journals.

Requirements

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science & Engineering, Physics, Optics and Photonics, or a closely related field
• Strong research record evidenced in peer-reviewed publications
• 3+ years of hands-on cleanroom experience in the fabrication, and characterization of semiconductor lasers and/or SOAs, with a track record evidenced by publications, patents, or project outcomes

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience in semiconductor laser/optical amplifier design and simulation
• Background in compound semiconductor (III-V) epitaxial materials/growth
• Knowledge and experience in photonic device testing and validation
• Knowledge and experience in silicon photonics and other heterogeneous integration photonics platforms
