About The Position

Postdoctoral positions are available in the lab of Dr. Jian Xu at the Department of Pathology and Center of Excellence for Leukemia Studies (CELS) at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The research focuses on understanding the metabolic processes that control stem cell development, blood disorders, and childhood cancers. The lab utilizes high-throughput metabolomics, epigenomics, single-cell multiomics, (epi)genome editing, and preclinical models to define disease-associated metabolic and epigenetic programs that control stem cell development and how these processes are altered in cancer progression. The lab is equipped with advanced platforms including LC-MS and GS-MS-based metabolomic platforms, an illumina sequencer, 10xGenomics single-cell technologies, and flow cytometry. The team is collaborative and multidisciplinary, with a strong publication record in high-impact journals. Potential research projects include understanding and targeting metabolic vulnerabilities in genetic blood disorders and therapy response, characterizing metabolic dependencies and biomarkers in childhood cancers, developing high-throughput multi-omic approaches for targeting cancer stem cells, and developing computational approaches for integrating multi-omic datasets.
