About The Position

The Tang Lab at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate with a background in cellular and molecular biology. Our research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of R-loop regulation, DNA-protein crosslinks (DPCs), and their contributions to genome instability in cancer and congenital human disorders. Current research interests include R-loop biology and transcription-replication conflicts (TRCs), DNA-protein crosslink (DPC) formation, repair, and consequences, genome instability mechanisms in cancer and congenital disorders, and the development of novel tools for locus-specific chromatin and R-loop interrogation. The ultimate goal is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which R-loops and DPCs drive genome instability, with the potential to inform the development of novel therapeutics for related human diseases. This is a full-time research or scholarship position at the University, preparatory for a full-time academic or research career. The appointee will be supervised by a senior scholar and allowed to publish the results of their research or scholarship. Other duties may be assigned.
