About The Position

The University of Arizona Department of Astronomy and Steward Observatory seeks Postdoctoral Research Associates for research related to precision wide-field, high-resolution space imaging. Associates will work with faculty, including Ewan S. Douglas, and researchers in the University of Arizona Space Astrophysics Lab and Center for Astronomical Adaptive Optics on space-imaging science. The work includes modeling and observational research in preparation for next-generation high-resolution space instrumentation, with teams developing instruments for space- and ground-based high-contrast imaging. A particular focus is developing simulation and data-reduction tools to maximize the science return from the Lazuli Wide-field Context Camera. Steward Observatory offers a research environment in ground- and space-based astrophysics, interdisciplinary programs, and access to observing facilities. Associates may submit their own science proposals. The position also offers opportunities for outreach and student engagement. The role is full-time, 40 hours per week, and is eligible for full benefits. The expected hire date is September 1, 2027. Two positions are available.
