About The Position

The Counselor will work in the Yeshiva University Counseling Center and will provide individual therapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy to undergraduate and graduate students. The Counselor will also participate in outreach programs at the University, as well as in staff meetings and workshops. This is a one-year postdoctoral position, and the incumbent will receive supervision toward licensure.

Requirements

• Pre-doctoral internship completed before start date
• Completed all coursework towards degree in counseling or clinical psychology
• Applicants working on the completion of a doctoral dissertation will be considered
• Skills necessary to complete intakes, create treatment plans, and implement short-term psychotherapy and group therapy with undergraduate students and graduate students
• Skills to complete a suicide assessment and to be involved in crisis intervention
• Proficiency in the treatment model they use
• Familiarity with more than one treatment modality, such as CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic therapy

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience working in college counseling centers
• Interest and experience in an area of specialty, such as eating disorders, substance abuse, women’s issues, or trauma
• Interest in positive psychology
• Interest in designing and implementing programs on campus

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services including individual psychotherapy, group therapy, referrals, and crisis intervention
• Provide consultation services to faculty and staff as needed
• Assist with outreach programs to students on campus
• Maintain an assigned caseload of patients
• Will receive at least one hour a week of individual and one hour a week of group supervision toward licensure
• Maintain clinical records in compliance with State and Federal regulatory agency requirements and program policies and procedures
• Perform other related duties as assigned
