About The Position

The Department of Biology at Indiana University, Bloomington is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow for the Landeta Lab. The department is known for its comprehensive undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as its world-class research across various biological disciplines. The Landeta Lab focuses on the bacterial cell envelope, with a particular emphasis on oxidative protein folding. This position aims to advance research funded by NIH and CFF grants, focusing on novel oxidative reactions, disulfide bond-dependent exported proteins, the substrate specificity of thiol-disulfide oxidoreductases, and the identification of novel inhibitors against oxidative folding. The lab is looking for a positive and curious individual to join their team.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field.
  • Experience in microbiology.
  • Experience with proteomics.
  • Experience with in vitro assays.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with crystallography.
  • Experience supervising students.

Responsibilities

  • Perform in vitro assays to determine inhibitor efficacy against redox membrane proteins.
  • Enrich cysteine in DsbA substrates in E. coli and Mycobacteria using proteomics.
  • Determine differences between DsbA proteins of E. coli and M. smegmatis.
  • Establish termini restraints for inhibitor-protein crystallography in collaboration with Prof. Weikai Li.
  • Supervise undergraduate students.
  • Manage general lab operations.
  • Write up research findings for annual reports and manuscripts.
  • Present findings at lab meetings, microphiles, retreats, and conferences.
  • Participate in lab meetings.
