About The Position

The Learning, Understanding, Memory, & Neurodevelopment Lab (LUMeN Lab, PI: Dr. Alexandra Cohen) in the Department of Psychology at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to work on NIH-funded studies examining emotion-related learning, memory, and brain function across development. This position involves receiving advanced training from a Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence. The specific area of research will be determined by the department and laboratory. The role includes designing and evaluating experiments, developing new ideas to promote current research, and preparing and publishing scientific manuscripts. The fellow may be responsible for operating specific equipment and teaching techniques to others, as well as training and supervising research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee, with an initial one-year term, renewal expected based on satisfactory progress and funding availability. Appointments cannot exceed five years.

Requirements

  • A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field.
  • Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues.
  • Fluency with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, Matlab).
  • Experience with fMRI.
  • PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field by the position start date.

Nice To Haves

  • Developmental cognitive neuroscience research experience.

Responsibilities

  • Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career.
