About The Position

The Learning, Understanding, Memory, & Neurodevelopment Lab (LUMeN Lab, PI: Dr. Alexandra Cohen) in the Department of Psychology at Emory University (Atlanta, GA) is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow to work on NIH-funded studies examining emotion-related learning, memory, and brain function across development. Applications from members of groups underrepresented in science are encouraged. Candidates must have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field by the position start date. The start date is flexible with Summer/Fall 2026 preferred. Fluency with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, Matlab) and experience with fMRI are required. Developmental cognitive neuroscience research experience is preferred, but not required.

Requirements

PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field by the position start date.
Fluency with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, R, Matlab).
Experience with fMRI.
A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field.
Excellent scientific writing ability.
Strong oral communication skills.
The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues.

Nice To Haves

Developmental cognitive neuroscience research experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for pursuit of a career.
Designs and evaluates experiments.
Develops new ideas that promote current research.
Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator.
May be responsible for operation of specific equipment.
May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff.
