About The Position

The University of Maryland Baltimore, School of Medicine, Department of Neurology has a full-time postdoctoral position available in the Ciryam Lab. The Department of Neurology provides evaluation, treatment, and care for patients suffering from a wide range of neurological disorders including stroke, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and migraine. The Department also provides state-of-the-art rehabilitation services. A number of departmental faculty received grant funding from the National Institutes of Health and the Veteran’s Administration to study the role of genetics in stroke, epilepsy, and Parkinson’s disease, new brain imaging modalities in multiple sclerosis, biomarkers in multiple sclerosis, and neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and intellectual disability. Many faculty are lead investigators in clinical trials to identify new therapeutic approaches for a broad range of neurological disorders. The Ciryam Lab in the Department of Neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting for a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher for research in molecular and cellular neuroinflammation of acute brain injury. The projects will focus on inflammatory changes after traumatic brain injury (TBI) in an animal model. The emphasis of the lab is on the identification of mechanistic therapeutic targets for acute brain injury.

Requirements

  • PhD in neuroscience, immunology, or a related field.
  • Experience with transgenic mice and animal surgeries.
  • Experience with Western blot and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with design and implementation of CRISPR knock down strategies.
  • Experience with in vivo viral transduction.
  • Experience with single-cell RNA sequencing.
  • Experience with flow cytometry.
