A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Lefebvre laboratory at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Abramson Research Institute. The fellow will contribute to a project aimed at elucidating mechanisms whereby SOX5 variants cause Lamb-Shaffer syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by global developmental delay, intellectual disability and autism spectrum disorder features and at testing a gene therapy candidate approach for this disorder in preclinical models. The fellow will use cutting-edge approaches in mouse genetic models, human iPSC-derived brain organoid models, high-throughput ‘omics’ approaches and gene therapy strategies. Successful accomplishment of this research is anticipated to deepen fundamental scientific knowledge and to increase mechanistic understanding of neurodevelopmental diseases and our ability to treat them. It is also anticipated to help the fellow launch a promising career as an independent research investigator. Strong candidates for this position will be eager to contribute to pioneering translational research. They will have obtained an M.D. or Ph.D. degree in the last three years, will have a solid scientific research track record, including first-author publications relevant to the project, and will have outstanding communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Candidates should send their curriculum vitae, a description of research interests and career goals, and contact information for three or more Faculty-level references.
