About The Position

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be working on a bioengineering project that integrates wet lab research with AI-driven bioinformatics tool development. The suitable candidate should be cooperative, proactive, self-learning, independent, and effectively troubleshoot tasks. The main priority is to develop a computational model for nanobody bioengineering suitable for cancer research, including basic machine learning and working with large language models for classifiers and generative models. This work will require handling real-world molecular and cellular data from assays like reporter assays (bulk or cellular images) to facilitate proper data encoding, dataset processing, model training, and model validation. Web development is also a part of the project. The successful candidate will integrate wet lab molecular and cellular biology techniques to generate data, working cooperatively with teammates. The role also involves assisting with everyday laboratory maintenance, inventory management, and grant/manuscript preparations.

Requirements

  • Basic molecular and cell biology techniques, including bacterial transformation and handling, PCR, molecular cloning (restriction enzyme and Gibson assembly), gene codon optimization, DNA extraction (miniprep/midiprep/maxiprep), Sanger sequencing sample submissions, gene sequence analysis.
  • Mammalian cell culture work in a biosafety cabinet while maintaining sterility techniques.
  • DNA transfection into mammalian cell culture (PEI/lipofectamine).
  • Western blot.
  • Cellular fluorescence imaging and image processing (ImageJ).
  • Doctorate degree (PhD/DVM/MD) in a specialty area from an accredited university training program.
  • Experience using basic research techniques of the specialty area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with high-content imaging.
  • Ability to master techniques including virus production (retrovirus, mouse Moloney leukemia virus), Fluorescence activated cell sorting (FACS), next-generation sequencing.
  • Previous experience conducting research in the pediatric arena.
  • Experience in protocol and manuscript development.
  • Experience in grant writing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with everyday laboratory maintenance and inventory management.
  • Assist with grant and manuscript preparations.
