About The Position

The Postdoctoral Associate will join an interdisciplinary research environment focused on microfluidics, biofabrication, and advanced in vitro systems. The role involves working closely with faculty, researchers, and technical staff on projects at the interface of engineering, biology, and biomaterials. The emphasis will be on developing and implementing experimental platforms that support human-relevant research. This includes designing and testing perfusion-enabled systems, developing and optimizing biomaterials and biofabricated constructs, and contributing to interdisciplinary projects involving microfluidics, 3D bioprinting, organoid-based models, and related technologies.

Requirements

  • PhD in biological engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, material science, or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated research and applied experience in the design, fabrication, and optimization of microfluidic systems
  • Expertise across major biofabrication modalities, including extrusion-based, SLA, and volumetric 3D bioprinting
  • Strong hands-on experience with fabrication, prototyping, and experimental system development
  • Experience developing or working with perfusion systems, bioreactors, or microphysiological systems
  • Background in biomaterials, hydrogel formulation, or scaffold design
  • Demonstrated ability to design and execute rigorous experiments, analyze results, and iterate based on data
  • Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cell culture and/or biological model systems relevant to engineered tissues, organoids, or advanced in vitro platforms
  • Experience with organoids, organ-on-chip platforms, or other human-relevant biological models
  • Familiarity with characterization techniques such as microscopy, imaging, flow-based assays, spectroscopy, rheology, or related methods
  • Experience collaborating across engineering and biological disciplines in an academic research setting
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations

Responsibilities

  • Designing and testing perfusion-enabled systems
  • Developing and optimizing biomaterials and biofabricated constructs
  • Contributing to interdisciplinary projects involving microfluidics, 3D bioprinting, organoid-based models, and related technologies
  • Designing and executing rigorous experiments
