Post Doctoral.Post Doctoral.Associate

University of Pittsburgh•Pittsburgh, PA

About The Position

The Shevick group is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the team in early-to-mid 2027. The role offers opportunities to lead projects in synthetic methodology and/or complex molecule synthesis, with a focus on synthetic methodologies in radical chemistry and organosulfur chemistry. The radical chemistry project explores generating radical intermediates and applying them to carbon–carbon bond-forming reactions. The organosulfur project develops transition-metal-catalyzed approaches to organosulfur coupling reactions and establishes robust analytical methods to characterize products. The Postdoctoral Associate will collaborate closely with graduate and undergraduate students. Research results will be disseminated through high-impact, peer-reviewed scientific journals and presentations at scientific conferences.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Synthetic Chemistry, or a closely related discipline, completed before the agreed-upon start date.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience in synthetic organic chemistry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in reaction development and/or ability to design and execute multi-step synthetic routes.
  • Experience with air-sensitive techniques, including a glovebox and Schlenk line.
  • Proficiency in structural characterization techniques such as NMR, MS, and GC/HPLC.
  • Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in high-impact chemistry journals.
  • Commitment to a safe and inclusive laboratory environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience mentoring junior lab members or leading collaborative research efforts.
