About The Position
The mission of the Department of Corrections (DOC) is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure and humane environment for staff and offenders in carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes; and, to provide opportunities for offenders to acquire skills which facilitate non-criminal behavior. The Postal Technician I is a vital part of this mission through performing complex duties in the mailroom. This position is located at the new medical facility in Lexington, Kentucky.
Requirements
- High school graduate.
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to qualify for employment in this job classification.
- Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Responsibilities
- Searches and processes incoming and outgoing mail for staff and inmates
- Assists staff and inmates with proper mailing and shipping procedures
- Maintains logs
- Maintains and operates postal equipment
- Maintains and orders mailroom supplies
