About The Position

This is an independent, multifunctional position responsible for overseeing all aspects of Property Management, Materials Management, and Postal and Shipping Services operations. The role requires strong leadership, operational oversight, and hands-on technical expertise in warehouse and logistics environments. The incumbent will be responsible for planning, programming, workflow organization, budgeting, supervision, and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality services. The position works collaboratively across departments, engaging with department heads, student organizations, and the broader University community to ensure efficient and effective logistics, shipping, receiving, and materials distribution services. A key component of this role includes operating warehouse and logistics equipment, including trucks, forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment at a high level of proficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Required
  • 3–5 years of related work experience in Materials Management, Postal Services, Shipping/Receiving, or Logistics
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity
  • Working knowledge of Shipping, Receiving, Property Control, and Postal/Shipping service procedures
  • Experience with automated inventory and accounting systems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated professionalism in all aspects of job performance
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Valid Florida Driver’s License
  • Some night and weekend hours are required depending on university events and operational needs.
  • Daily operations require use of warehouse and logistics equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other material handling equipment.
  • Must be flexible, able to work under pressure, and capable of lifting items weighing more than 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations of Materials Management, including inventory control, warehousing, distribution, and logistics.
  • Operate and maintain warehouse equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and trucks as needed.
  • Coordinate workflow planning, scheduling, and resource allocation to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with campus departments and student organizations to support logistical and materials needs.
  • Direct operational, budgetary, and administrative functions of the Postal and Shipping Services department.
  • Ensure efficient processing, handling, and distribution of all incoming and outgoing mail and packages.
  • Monitor customer service window operations, including processing sales of outgoing mail and packages.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state postal regulations and shipping requirements.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to staff and student assistants.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, performance management, and evaluation of employees.
  • Delegate tasks effectively to ensure smooth daily operations across all service areas.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, postal regulations, and shipping compliance requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, efficiency, and customer service in all operations.
  • Monitor quality and quantity of work performed across all functional areas.
  • Assist in planning and managing departmental budgets.
  • Support operational planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
