About The Position

The Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering at the University of Central Florida is inviting a motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join the DISCOVER (Digital-Twin Infrastructure Science for Operations and Visualization in Engineering Resilience) Laboratory. This role involves conducting research at the convergence of multiscale computational mechanics, civil infrastructure resilience, and digital twin modeling. The position requires extensive collaboration across disciplines, incorporating Engineering Mechanics, Structural Engineering, AI, and Data Science. The candidate will assist the DISCOVER lab with managing existing research projects and preparing research proposals and publications. The Postdoctoral Associate will lead the development of research proposals and reports, collaborate in sponsored research projects, supervise graduate research assistants, and represent the DISCOVER Lab at national and international conferences, symposia, and professional meetings through published research works and presentations. This position offers the opportunity to work in a research-oriented laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art hardware and software tools, performing cutting-edge research related to digital twin modeling of large-scale infrastructure systems. The position is ideal for recently graduated post-doctorate professionals looking to grow their research records, with optional opportunities to develop their teaching portfolio. More experienced candidates will also be considered.

Requirements

• PhD from an accredited university in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated potential to lead the development of research proposals and advise graduate students.
• Demonstrated leadership/managerial and organizational skills.
• Full professional proficiency in one of the following languages: Python (including PyTorch and TensorFlow), Julia (including Flux.jl and CUDA.jl), C++.
• All applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer.
• H-1B visa sponsorship is not available for this position, and the university cannot accommodate H-1B transfers or employment-based visa processing for individuals currently sponsored by another employer.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the development and maintenance of scientific computing software suites.
