About The Position

The Ohio State University is seeking one postdoctoral scholar to join their team starting as soon as October 1, 2026. This position will support an individual interested in examining the psychology of extremism and persuasion. The appointed scholar will primarily work with Professor Richard E. Petty, with opportunities to collaborate with other OSU faculty, postdoctoral fellows and graduate students. The social psychology program at The Ohio State University is dedicated to advancing research in the psychology of extremism and persuasion. Funded by the Templeton Foundation and Ohio State University, we offer a collaborative and dynamic research environment.

Requirements

  • Completed doctoral degree in psychology or a related field by the start date.
  • Strong theoretical or practical background in experimental design, data analysis, and scientific writing.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R, SPSS, Python) and survey tools (e.g., Qualtrics).
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications or manuscripts in preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research in the psychology of extremism and persuasion.
  • Collaborate with Professor Richard E. Petty, other OSU faculty, postdoctoral fellows, and graduate students.
  • Design and conduct experimental studies.
  • Analyze data using statistical software.
  • Write scientific manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.
  • Prepare and present research findings.
