About The Position
Seeking a Post Doctoral Scholar to join the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at The Ohio State University to study excited-state dynamics and finite-temperature electronic structure of condensed-phase systems using theoretical and computational methods. The Post Doctoral Scholar will embark on a program of independent research with the primary goal to determine how strongly coupled electronic and vibrational excitations shape the finite-temperature response properties of interfaces and solids.
Requirements
- PhD in chemistry or physics or a related field by the time of hire
- Strong theoretical background in physical chemistry or chemical physics
- Demonstrated experience operating and maintaining a codebase of theoretical methods and software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Collaborative mentality towards research and mentoring
- Demonstrated record of peer-reviewed publications

- Experience developing condensed-phase electronic structure methods
- Quantum-classical dynamics approaches
- Green’s function techniques
Responsibilities
- Conducting research work centered around developing first principles theoretical methods, performing multiscale simulations, and analyzing computational data
- Leading manuscript preparation for submission to peer-reviewed journals
- Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students
- Maintenance of custom open-source computing software
