About The Position

The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center – Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC–James) is a nationally recognized, NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center integrated within one of the nation’s largest public research universities. The OSUCCC–James brings together world-class researchers and clinicians to accelerate discoveries and translate them into improved cancer prevention, detection, and treatment. The Thege Laboratory, within the Division of Surgical Oncology, is seeking a highly motivated and creative Postdoctoral Scholar to join our team. Our research is focused on developing rational drug combinations for KRAS-mutant pancreatic and lung cancers, with an emphasis on identifying therapeutic vulnerabilities and overcoming resistance mechanisms.

Requirements

  • PhD in Cancer Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
  • Strong background in molecular and cellular biology techniques, including cell culture, nucleic acid handling, and protein analysis
  • Demonstrated experience with animal models (mouse experiments required)
  • Hands-on expertise in wet lab research, with the ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with organoid culture systems or primary patient-derived samples
  • Familiarity with functional genomics approaches, including CRISPR-based screening
  • Experience analyzing or interpreting omics datasets (RNA-seq, single-cell, or spatial data)
  • Basic proficiency in coding or bioinformatics (e.g., R, Python) is strongly preferred
  • Prior experience working in cancer biology, particularly in pancreatic, lung, or KRAS-driven cancers, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and interpret independent and collaborative research projects aligned with lab goals
  • Perform in vitro and in vivo experiments, including drug screening and mouse studies
  • Develop and optimize organoid and tumor models
  • Conduct and/or analyze high-throughput sequencing datasets (scRNA-seq, spatial transcriptomics, bulk RNA-seq)
  • Maintain detailed experimental records and ensure rigorous reproducibility
  • Prepare manuscripts and contribute to grant applications
  • Present findings at lab meetings, institutional seminars, and national/international conferences
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across the OSUCCC
