About The Position

The Department of Biology in the College of Science at The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for a non-tenured Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The Tang Lab is seeking to hire one postdoctoral researcher to investigate bacterial stress responses and the mechanisms by which bacterial infections alter host metabolism and immune responses. Our research focuses on understanding both bacterial physiology and host-pathogen interactions at the molecular and cellular levels. Candidates with expertise in bacterial physiology, bacterial pathogenesis, host-pathogen interactions or related fields are strongly encouraged to apply. The postdoctoral researcher will be supported by active NIH R35 and R01 grants, as well as Dr. Tang’s startup funding. The Tang Lab offers a collaborative, supportive, and intellectually stimulating research environment with access to state-of-the-art facilities. Dr. Tang is committed to mentoring postdoctoral fellows and supporting their long-term career development, whether in academia, industry, or other research careers.

Requirements

  • Requires a PhD degree.
  • Applicants should have excellent scientific communication skills, a strong publication record, and demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Successful candidates are also expected to provide scientific leadership by driving research projects and mentoring undergraduate and graduate trainees in the laboratory.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one of the following research projects: 1) Investigate how bacterial pathogens, including Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogenes, manipulate host immunometabolism to promote intracellular survival; 2) Study how bacteria remodel their physiology through c-di- AMP signaling to survive host immune defenses and antibiotic treatment; 3) Investigate the pathogenesis of S. aureus thymidine-dependent small-colony variants (TD-SCVs).
  • Mentor and train graduate students and junior postdoctoral fellows.
  • Participate in weekly lab meetings and research seminars hosted by UTA.
  • Present research findings at national and international scientific conferences.
  • Contribute to manuscript writing, editing, and grant preparation.
