About The Position

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the incumbent will work to reduce/prevent human foodborne infections caused by broiler chicken consumption. Specifically, the incumbent will follow protocols for anti-bacterial vaccine development using radiation technology and the laboratory analysis of bacterial loads, resistance gene and protein expression and immune responses of immunized broiler chickens against multiple bacteria.

Requirements

  • PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Poultry Science, Microbiology, or a closely related field.
  • Proof of legal authority to work in the United States on the first day of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive laboratory and electron beam (Ebeam) experience and data collection background.
  • Understanding of the etiology of bacterial diseases in chickens and experience with mitigatory interventions.
  • Experience with basic molecular biology and techniques such as droplet digital PCR, DNA and RNA Extraction, gel electrophoresis, cDNA Synthesis, primer design and gene sequence data analysis.
  • Experience with handling live broiler chickens, euthanasia, necropsy and biological sample collection.
